Theme: Exploring dimensions of death and regeneration…rebirth
Emmeline Pankhurst, on tour in USA in 1913 about her near-death experience in 12 hunger strikes, said “I want to say to you who think women cannot succeed, we have brought the government of England to this position, that it has to face this alternative: either women are to be killed or women are to have the vote”.
Equal voting rights for British women were finally granted in 1928, the year of Pankhurst’s death. On another level Karen Armstrong in A history of Myth speaks about how one’s life can be radically
changed forever through a powerful personal experiencing of myth and ritual. These are the experiences that practically destroy one, but, having survived, new insights and strengths are forged.
Think about: a striking role model in your life –a strong woman who influenced and changed your life forever…
Bring : a splattering of purple (for dignity), white (purity) and green (hope).
