Miriam’s Circle
A circle of creative spirituality and ritual for women.
Dear friends,
The December full moon rises on Tuesday 17th
This is the date of our next gathering
As this is the last full moon of 2013 it seems fitting to end with a meal!
And to share together our thoughts, our memories, our hopes…
These have been momentous days – days of mourning and celebrating,
an opportunity to revisit some of the most precious memories of
South Africa’s great ‘Reconciler’ …
Theme: Spinning webs of Reconcilation…
“I am not what I am, I am what I do with my hands”
Louise Bourgeois, who died in 2010 aged 98 is credited as being the inventor of “confessional art” – art that intentionally reveals intimate emotions and experiences. She once said, “The subject of pain is the business I am in”. Bourgeois is known mostly for her gigantic spider sculptures. These arachnids were called Maman [Mother] in tribute to her put-upon mother and the intricately complex web of her childhood. “The spider is a weaver and a repairer. If you bash into the web of a spider, she doesn’t get mad. She weaves and repairs it.”
Repairer…reconciler…
Please think of sharing thoughts on spinning, weaving webs of reconciliation…
of how pain can be transformed into creativity…
Please bring a tasty dish to share
